Radiohead Aims To Reduce Carbon Footprint!
From Radiohead's Blog:
After the Radiohead commissioned report by Best Foot Forward was published, a lot of questions were asked about the way that we tour. The main issue is how the audience moves to and from the show. With the location and public transport links now a more significant factor when choosing venues, fans are being encouraged to think about alternative ways of travelling.
Beyond this, we have asked ourselves - what can we, the tour, do?
Staying at home is the obvious answer - no tour, no carbon footprint! but people will still go to gigs, and we are running a business, the business of providing a quality product {live music} to the customer {the fans}. If you start from this position and remember that we are responsible for the welfare of the 60+ people on the road, you very quickly hit some brick walls.
In the coming weeks we hope to show you what Radiohead are doing to change the way they tour in order to reduce their own carbon footprint.
We want to show the failings as well as the successes, and who has helped us along the way.
None of what we are trying to do could have been possible with out the cooperation of the band, crew, venues, suppliers and fans. It's a joint effort. We can dream up new schemes and come up with the resources, but it requires each and every one of us to participate for the whole thing to work. Let's start a debate. Things will only change on a global scale if the customer demands it.
Some of the initiatives are very simple and obvious, but make a big difference, others are new and innovative. It's not a perfect model; there are always limitations as to what can be done when putting on such a level of show.
Ultimately, that's the point. None of what we are doing should impede your enjoyment of a Radiohead concert, in fact; maybe it will be a better show, through the discovery of new technologies and a fresh way of thinking.

Radiohead, Johnson Headlining All Points West
As expected, Radiohead and Jack Johnson will headline the first All Points West Music & Arts Festival, to be held Aug. 8-10 at Liberty State Park, just across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan.
Rolling Stone calls Radiohead the "best live band in rock".
"The performances are brilliant," says Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood, "because they are so relaxed." At Bonnaroo, Greenwood, singer Thom Yorke, drummer Phil Selway, and guitarists Ed O'Brien and Colin's brother Jonny covered every extreme in their studio catalog, from the violent double-guitar clang of 1995's The Bends to the haunted electronics of 2000's Kid A. But it was in the fresh, unfinished songs, later cut for 2007's In Rainbows, that Radiohead peaked that night. "In 'House of Cards,'" Colin says, "50,000 people threw their glow sticks in the air to this kick-drum beat and Thom's keening voice. In the film [of the concert], it looks like Thom walked into a party where he feels instantly at home."
Jack Johnson just came off The Happening tour in Japan and Australia! Jack arrived in Toyko at the Laforet Museum Harajuku on April 11th, featuring performances from Matt Costa and Mason Jennings.
The event showcased four films including feature Sliding Liberia by Britton Caillouette and Nicholai Lidow and previews by The Malloys, Thomas Campbell and Alex Kopps.
There was also art and photography exhibitions with work by Thomas Campbell, Jeff Canham, Andy Davis, Julie Goldstein, Andrew Kidman, Alex Kopps and more.

MERCY bulleting up Hot AC and Triple-A charts, video on VH1, VH1 Soul, FUSE, MTV Hits, and mtvU, after premiering on VH1.com and MTV.com
With her first U.S. single Mercy bulleting inside the Top 30 this week at Hot AC and Triple-A/New & Active radio formats, on its way to an explosive Billboard Hot 100 debut next week, and the Mercy video collecting plays on VH1, VH1 Soul, FUSE, MTV Hits, and mtvU (after premiering on VH1.com and MTV.com) and currently a You Oughta Know and Discover & Download artist, young Welsh singer Duffy has her sights set on the U.S. release of ROCKFERRY, her debut album which arrives in stores May 13th on the newly relaunched Mercury Records label.
In addition to being available online and in traditional retail stores, ROCKFERRY will be available at Starbucks company operated locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Meanwhile, on May 12th, the Monday night before her ROCKFERRYs release, Duffy will make her historic New York City theatrical premiere at the world-famous Apollo. The show climaxes a day of morning and evening TV spots on ABCs Live with Regis & Kelly and NBCs Late Night with Conan OBrien, respectively. Prior to this, Duffy will appear April 28th on NBCs The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, one day after she performs at the giant Coachella Festival in the California desert, kicking off a week of U.S. promotional appearances. Duffys North American summer and fall tour schedule will be announced in the months ahead.
Last month, after a whirlwind weekend at the SXSW Music & Film Conference in Austin, Texas, Duffy made her U.S. nightclub premiere at NYs swank Hiro Ballroom on St. Patricks Day. ROCKFERRY, which shipped near-platinum in the UK the week before, entering the national chart at #1. The albums first week UK sales were the highest first week album sales of the year there, six times as much as the #2 album, nearly as much as the rest of the top 10 albums in total. Duffys set culminated with Mercy, which spent five weeks at #1 on the UK and Ireland national charts. In addition to the UK and Ireland, and the Eurochart Hot 100, Mercy also went to #1 in Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Turkey; #2 in Denmark, Greece, Spain, Norway, Bulgaria, and Germany; and Top 10 on the United World Chart.
Guileless and beguiling, and blessed with effortless Motown and Stax chops, 23-year old Duffy has blown away Londons hype-driven music machinery like a gust of fresh air. She was born and raised in the tiny Welsh village of Nefyn (population 2,550 at last census), a place so remote that the nearest record store was a bus ride away and only stocked the Top 40. Isolated, her muse was immaculately conceived and soulfully nurtured. Duffy worked as a waitress, sang in a bar, and cobbled out demo recordings that found their way to Jeanette Lee, noted founder and partner of the Rough Trade record label and management company. She encouraged Duffy to write her own material, put her in the studio with like minded cowriters/producers. She signed to A&M/Polydor UK and Mercury Records in the U.S.
